Gathering of support and reflection at UVic following fatal bus crash

Students at the University of Victoria gathered for an hour of reflection and support Tuesday after last Friday’s bus crash that killed two students and injured a dozen more.

Three dead dogs found in ditch suffering gunshot wounds

The SPCA is asking for the public’s help in locating the person behind three dogs that were foun, shot and killed in a ditch on Monday. The animals were found near the intersection of Damms Road and Willow Cale Road.

Province announces help for those in forestry industry

The province announced $69 million to fund a new series of measures aimed at supporting workers in the forestry industry. The measures included things such as an early retirement bridging program and establishing short-term forest employment program.

RCMP surround home on Spruce street

RCMP surrounded a residence on the 1800 block of Spruce Street Tuesday. Witnesses on scene say multiple officers had their guns drawn and aimed at what neighbours called a “problem residence.” More information to come…

PG Taxi challenges

A local cab company is considering the option of offering its own ride-sharing service, after learning that it is perfectly legal to have both under the same roof. At least one ride-sharing company has applied to the BC Passenger Transportation Board and PG Taxi has added itself to that list.
