PRINCE GEORGE–Big Brothers Big Sisters made an announcement Wednesday morning, one that includes partnering with small communities across Northern B.C.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is now, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC (BBBS NBC.) The organization announced its first partnership with the Valemount Learning Society, the first non-profit of many they hope to partner with across northern B.C. “Right, now we are the only agency in northern B.C, there is a lot of youth north and west of us who could benefit from having an adult mentor in their life,” said Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern B.C, Tim Bennett.

The announcement comes on the 40th anniversary of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Prince George.

“Certainly as someone who has represented the Robson Valley for a long time, we know that small communities often don’t have the same kind of services that our larger centres have,” said Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond. The expansion across the north is expected to take time in order to ensure that it is done in a sustainable way.

The announcement also unveiled a rebrand, which included a new logo, new colour palate and a fresh look.
