Wanted man arrested after hiding out in local residence

PRINCE GEORGE – UPDATE: A wanted man was arrested after RCMP surrounded a home Tuesday, Sept 17th.

At around 3 PM officers received information that an adult male was hiding out inside a residence on the 1900 block of Spruce St. Police evacuated neighbouring residences and the street was closed off to traffic.

39-year-old, Eric West surrendered to police at around 5:30 PM. West was wanted for extortion, attempted kidnapping, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

EARLIER:Police have surrounded a residence on the 1800 block of Spruce Street near the downtown.

According to witnesses on scene, multiple officers have their guns aimed at what neighbours are calling a “problem residence.”

No word yet from RCMP on who’s involved or who is in the home.
