The Union of BC Municipalities convention is underway in Vancouver where local governments and advocates voice issues to different levels of government. There are 274 resolutions in total this year–four of which are from Prince George.

Strimbold to be sentenced in November

Former Burns Lake mayor Luke Strimbold will be sentenced in November after pleading guilty to four counts of sexual assault against four individuals in May. His sentencing was supposed to take place on Monday (Sept.23) but was delayed to accommodate court scheduling issues.

Phone scam investigation leads to BC arrest

An individual has been arrested in relation to money laundering relating to fraudulent telephone scams, targeting Canadians. The scams are believed to have originated in illegal call centres in India. A joint RCMP investigation found a group of individuals operated money service businesses in the Lower Mainland.
