PRINCE GEORGE–One year later and the paving on the section of 7th avenue in front of City Hall has been completed.

Over the course of the project, crews replaced, and repaired old and deteriorating underground utilities and other infrastructure, while also rerouting storm drainage, and upgrading and rerouting the sanitary sewer. The operation is related to the construction of a new city parkade and the Park House condominium development across from City Hall.

“Council is very excited to see this scenic and historic downtown road re-opened, and we are pleased that the construction was used as an opportunity to upgrade and replace deteriorating infrastructure,” says Mayor Lyn Hall.

The work isn’t entirely over yet with a planter and concrete needed to finish the project, along with new street lights later this fall. Next year a section of George St. and 6th Avenue (near The Keg) will be closed in order to allow the City’s Downtown Renewable Energy System to be connected to the new parkade.
