Cariboo Fire Centre
Burning restrictions now lifted province-wide

WILLIAMS LAKE — As of noon today, all burning restrictions covering B-C’s woodlands have been lifted.
The Cariboo Fire Centre has removed its last remaining restriction and is now permitting Category 3 open fires throughout that area.
Category 3 fires include blazes larger than two metres high by three metres wide, or three or more consecutively burning piles.
Tension marked the start of the 2019 wildfire season because the province had endured an extended dry spell between January and June, but rains arrived in July and, for the first time in years, only a handful of short-lived campfire bans were imposed in B.C. over the summer.
