All but one UBCM resolution passed
PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George City Council submitted four resolutions to the Union of BC Municipalities convention and all but one was endorsed by the executive. The remaining three sought for better broadband connectivity, revenue sharing from the proceeds of crime and a resolution demanding more community involvement in land-use decisions around the Southern Mountain Caribou.
The resolution that did go for debate at the general convention was one looking for provincial funding to help with the clean up of drug paraphernalia. Executive member Murry Krause says the idea of that resolution was accepted, but the wording was not.
Those that were endorsed by the executive head to the respective provincial government ministries.
“And then we wait to see what their responses are,” says Krause. “Very often, they’re very quick because they’re very obvious. Other ones take longer. Whenever UBCM meets with the provincial government, those are the things that are discussed.”
