PG’s Manning to begin season with Oilers
It’s been a hectic two days for Prince George’s Brandon Manning. The Edmonton Oilers defenseman has been fighting for a spot on the roster of the Oilers and it hasn’t come easy. Monday evening, Manning was placed on waivers, as the Oilers worked their salary cap into the allotted amount before the season begins. Today, Manning cleared waivers and was returned to the Oilers, where they’ve kept him in Edmonton with the team. The franchise has since released their Opening Day roster, which Manning is listed on. He’s one of seven defenseman on the Oilers roster ahead of Wednesday’s season opener. Now that he’s cleared waivers, the team can send him back to the AHL, where he spent a majority of last season, or they can hold on to him, which it appears they will do at least for the beginning of the season.
