SD 57 enrolment up
PRINCE GEORGE – Much along the same lines as the Independent and the Catholic Independent Schools systems in Prince George, student enrolment numbers are up in the public school system.
“We should have our totals early next week. But we are up again. We’re seeing increases in our student counts,” says Tim Bennett, Chair of the Board of Education. “In the Robson Valley, which is a great news story and we’re seeing more students in our schools here in Prince George.”
The numbers also show there has been an enrolment increase in the Robson Valley, but Mackenzie’s numbers remain flat. But, while enrolment increases are good news, they can present challenges in certain cases.
“At our October meeting, we’re having a conversation regarding the Edgewood catchment and the Spruceland catchment. Do we move [the students] from the Ecole-Duchess Park catchment to the DP Todd catchment?”
