Late power-play goal hands Cougars another heart-breaking loss

Oct 5, 2019 | 8:16 AM

The bounces aren’t going the way of the Prince George Cougars to start the 2019-2020 WHL season.

It was another solid performance from the Cats, but a late goal by Pavel Novak on the man advantage lifted the Rockets to a 2-1 win.

Novak opened the scoring just 4:23 into the contest to give the visitors the lead.

However, following Novak’s opening goal, the Cougars would control play and get a number of chances to even the game, but could not beat Roman Basran.

Prince George would finally break through in the 3rd as Josh Maser would even the game on the power play with his first of the campaign.

Novak would then break the deadlock with his 2nd of the night with just 1:49 remaining to lock up the regulation win for the Rockets.

The Cougars are now 0-4-0-1 on the year and are still in search of their first win of the season.

The two clubs will meet again Saturday night at the CN Centre. Face-off is at 7:00 p.m.
