Spruce Kings drop high scoring affair at BCHL showcase

The Prince George Spruce Kings are coming back from the Bauer BCHL Showcase following a tough 7-4 loss to the Trail Smoke Eaters Saturday afternoon.

Trail’s Kyle Budvarson opened the scoring 15:42 into the first period for the Smokies while Michael Colella would add a power-play goal to give Trail a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

The teams would then combine for six goals in the middle frame, but unfortunately for the Spruce Kings, they would be outscored 4-2 in the period and would trail 6-2 heading into the third.

That lead would prove to be too much for the defending BCHL Champs as they would end up dropping their 2nd contest in 8 days to the Smoke Eaters.
