Chetwynd: “Prolific offender” from PG in custody after stolen vehicle crash

CHETWYND–A Prince George man is in custody after a stolen vehicle crash on Friday, Oct. 4th.

Chetwynd RCMP responded to the scene on east of Chetwynd on Hwy 97 south, Friday at around 5 PM. When they arrived they found that the suspect had fled the scene. Further investigation by police led them to discover that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Mackenzie BC.

With help from members of the community, the RCMP were able to locate the suspect who they say is a “prolific offender” from Prince George, the Peace Laird Area and into Alberta.

The suspect remains in custody, pending a future court date and could face charges of Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Break and Enter tools and leaving the scene of an accident. The identity of the man has not been released.
