Local players and local prospects will be representing their province at this year’s WHL Cup, hosted in Calgary. From right here in our own backyard, Prince George’s Nico Myatovic will play for Team BC. The 14-year-old was selected by the Seattle Thunderbirds in last year’s WHL Bantam Draft. Going up against Myatovic will be the top four Cougars’ draft picks from the recent Bantam Draft. Team Alberta sports the likes of defenceman Keaton Dowhaniuk and forward Koehn Ziemmer. Second-round pick Jaren Brinson will also play for Team Alberta, while fellow second-rounder Kyren Gronick is on Team Saskatchewan’s roster. The WHL Cup is a chance for the stars of tomorrow to see what they’ll be up against in the league in the years to come.
