Curtailments don’t impact retail prices
PRINCE GEORGE – Despite several curtailments for different BC lumber producers, the impacts of them have yet to be felt in the retail side of things. Rona says some lumber types are holding steady.
“Most dimensions are still available,” says Al Jones. “Two by four, two by six, two by eight, no problem at all.”
The motivation behind the curtailments was to drive up demand as well as price. But the latter hasn’t seen much change either. According to Madison’s Lumber Reporter, lumber prices as of the week of October 8th were $376 per thousand board feet, unchanged from the week before.
Nor are the contractors struggling.
