For the third time in eight days, the Prince George Cougars collided with the Spokane Chiefs.

Prince George was coming off a 2-1 Friday night and had won three of their last four.

Spokane came out flying in the first period peppering Taylor Gauthier with 20 shots, but the 19-year old turned aside all 20.

The lone goal of the frame came from Josh Maser, who netted his 5th of the young season to give PG a 1-0 lead.

Spokane would breakthrough, though in the middle stanza with a pair of goals. Adam Beckman tied the game with his 4th of the season and then Spokane would get their first lead of the weekend thanks to Bear Hughes.

Trailing in the 3rd, the Cougars would begin to put on the pressure and look for the equalizer and it would pay off. With 7:05 to go in the period, Brendan Boyle would net the first goal of his WHL career to tie the game up at 2.

However, a late penalty would prove to be costly for the home side. Mitchell Kohner would head off for slashing and with seconds remaining in the power play Mitchell King would give Spokane a 3-2 lead.

The Chiefs would add two more late to earn the 5-2 win.

With the loss, the Cougars drop to 3-6-0-1 on the season.

They will continue their four-game homestand Tuesday night when they welcome the Swift Current Broncos to the CN Centre. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m.
