PRINCE GEORGE — Tim Bennett was acclaimed chair of the Prince George School Board at its inaugural meeting last night (Nov.6).

“I feel so fortunate for the trust the board has put in me,” Bennett told CKPG Today after the meeting.

Trustee Trent Derrick takes over as the new vice chair from Sharel Warrington.

New superintendent Anita Richardson was in town to watch the meeting from the gallery.

“We’re really excited to welcome Anita back home,” said Bennett. “She’s here to meet with the district leadership.”

Richardson will start her new job in January and said she’s “super excited to be back.”

“I was born in Prince George and raised in McBride and I worked in Mackenzie for 13 years so to come back feels like home.”

As for her vision moving forward?

“For a long time I’ve had a vision that in education I’d like to see all kids cross the stage with dignity, purpose, and hope. So, I feel coming home is a good place to be because it matches with my philosophy and my thoughts and what’s going on in School District 57 aligns with that.”
