PRINCE GEORGE — It was looking bleak for the Prince George Cougars Friday night, down 2-0 with just minutes to go but leave it to the Cats to stay resilient and earn a point in a very closely contested matchup.

The third period opened as a scoreless tie before Victoria would rattle off a pair of goals to seemingly put to rest Prince George. With just 2:07 left in the game, Josh Maser and Connor Bowie would send the game to overtime in front of 2,048 hometown fans.

A shootout would be needed. The Royals earning the extra point after a four-round shootout. Ethan Browne scoring the lone goal for the Cougars after the overtime period.

Prince George and Victoria meet for a rematch Saturday night at the CN Centre. Puck drop at 7pm.
