UNBCFA in “Crisis Mode” despite newly appointed special mediator
PRINCE GEORGE — Week four is officially underway as the UNBC faculty strike continues.
Worry continues to build at UNBC as a mediator has yet to bridge any ground between administration and faculty. It is now to the point UNBCFA Vice-President Paul Siakaluk said they are in “crisis mode”. In a tweet, Siakaluk wrote “In 2 hours my Psyc 101 students will be missing their 7th straight lecture. That is 1/3 of the semester.”, a telling sign of how dire the situation has become. There is also uncertainty surrounding how the rest of the semester would play out, should a deal get done in the near future.
As of midday Thursday, the UNCFA says a pair of independent legal opinions deemed administration’s latest proposal ‘unlawful’. UNBC refused to speak on the issue.
