Special Council Meeting reminder

Nov 29, 2019 | 4:37 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – A special meeting has been called for Monday, beginning at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers, to talk about the social issues in the downtown. The City, Northern Health and the RCMP will be present, but the Prince George Chamber of Commerce will not. In a statement issued, Chamber CEO Todd Corrigall stated:

“The Prince George Chamber hosted a Community Business Consultation Meeting on November 12, 2019 with participation from Downtown PG, and the Gateway BIA – organizations which jointly represent and advocate on behalf of more than 1,200 businesses and property owners. At that meeting, we committed to our members that we would take their feedback, develop specific policy recommendations, and bring them back to the aforementioned membership group for further feedback. We committed to doing this in a transparent manner, with their involvement, and their specific views considered. Within these recommendations, our organizations are developing specific policy and budgetary recommendations to be considered for City of Prince George’s 2020 budgetary cycle.”

He adds that three days notice of the meeting is not long enough to discuss the Chamber’s policy recommendation. As such, it has requested a chance to present at the December 16th regular Council meeting.
