Semester Extended

UNBC Senate gives short-term solution with semester decision, long-term still up in the air

PRINCE GEORGE — It looks like UNBC students will be able to finish out their semester despite nearly a month of job action. A senate meeting called Monday has resulted in the exam period being eliminated for this semester, while class time is also extended to December 13th to make up for lost class time.

As far as grades are concerned, that is a little more jaded. It differs from class to class and student to student. Third-year undergraduate student Elizabeth Laird said she is just happy to finally have “an answer” after a month of uncertainty.

Long-term, things are still up in the air. It is a waiting game with the grievance filed by UNBC’s Faculty Association. As it stands, next semester is supposed to start the first full week of January.

For the time being, it’s recommended students get in touch with professors about any unique circumstances such as booked flights or plans to leave Prince George before the new semester end date.
