Fees Rising
PRINCE GEORGE – For every service not covered under the budgetary process will be increasing come the new year. On average, the increases are an average of three per cent, designed to reflect inflationary costs. And those increases will be reflected in each of the next four years.
For instance, a resident will be charged $2,736 for a single interment in the cemetery. That is up from $2,656 right now. Garbage can fees will increase by two per cent. That means the cost of a small can will increase by three dollars per year, while the increase for a large can will be five dollars per year in each of the next four years. Fees for recreational facilities, such as the CN Centre, the Kin Centres and both aquatic centres will increase by three per cent as the City tries “to find a balance between cost recovery and affordability.”
However, more than one Councillor noted the increases have Council possibly making some tough decisions when it comes to the budget discussions come the new year.
