Strimbold gets two years less a day
SMITHERS — After a lengthy process, former Burns Lake Mayor Luke Strimbold has been sentenced in BC Supreme Court.
Strimbold faces two years less a day jail time. He was charged with four counts of sexual assault.
The Crown had originally approved 29 charges against Strimbold including sexual assault, sexual interference, and invitation to sexual touching involving boys under the age of 16. These incidents allegedly happening between May 2014 and September 2017. The remaining 25 counts against Strimbold have been stayed following the sentencing.
According to Thom Barker with the Smithers Interior News, the judge spoke to the aggravating circumstances, Strimbold’s sexual assault history, and community support. Also noting his continued commitment to counselling from even before his arrest, as factoring into her decision for a sentence.
