Doherty ‘shocked and saddened’ by Scheer resignation

OTTAWA, ON — Todd Doherty says he was shocked to learn of Andrew Scheer’s decision to step down as leader of the federal Conservative Party.
The Conservative Cariboo-Prince George MP says he’s also sad, noting though the Conservatives were unable to win October’s federal election, the party did manage to increase it’s seat count and share of the vote over the previous election in 2015.
Scheer said he was stepping down because of the toll the job was taking on his family.
