PRINCE GEORGE – Ground will be broken next year on a new health and wellness centre on the North side of the Shelley Reserve.

The new facility will have a health and wellness lounge, medical and treatment spaces, a dental treatment room as well as Administration. It will also have the capacity to conduct telehealth, something that is a significant improvement for the Lheidli T’enneh.

“A lot of our people die of cancer, some have heart attacks,” says Vincent Joseph, the Manager of Health care for the Lheili T’enneh. “So if we have telehealth and, if we train our nurses, we can get a diagnosis from Vancouver or wherever.”

Chief Clay Pountney says the hope was actually to have the groundwork started this year, but the design had to be revised. But he says the site is chosen and the money is in place and the work will start next year.
