‘Still not getting the message’: RCMP continue to crack down on impaired drivers
PRINCE GEORGE–Drivers are still not getting the message, this according to the Prince George RCMP who launched their CounterAttack campaign aimed at targeting impaired drivers over the holiday season.
Between Monday, Dec.9th and Sunday, Dec.15th frontline officers continued to target impaired drivers which resulted in the following:
- 2 – Criminal Code impaired driving investigations
- 3 – 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRPs) with 30 day vehicle impound
- 3 – day IRPs
- 4 – 24 hour driving prohibitions (alcohol)
- 3 – 24 hour driving prohibitions (drug)
- 5 – Prohibited drivers
- 25 – Motor Vehicle Act violation tickets
- 20 – Vehicles impounded
“Despite our best efforts to warn drivers that our officers will be out in full force,” says Cpl. Craig Douglass, spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP. “Some people still choose to drive while impaired. Everyone else should be aware of this and be extra cautious while utilizing our roadways.”
