VICTORIA–A grant is up for grabs for those communities looking to improve their transportation infrastructure.

“This grant program is designed to meet the needs of rural and urban communities, so people of all ages and abilities can benefit from better connections between neighbourhoods, schools, work offices, transit stations and town centres,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Claire Trevena.

Municipalities, Indigenous governments and regional districts are all invited to submit funding proposals to the cost-shared Active Grant program, which supports all forms of active transportation including, pedestrian safety improvements to sidewalks, improved lighting along pathways and end-of-trip facilities.

The Active Grant program is a replacement to the former BikeBC program focused on solely on cycling infrastructure projects. The program supports goals set out in the Province’s CleanBC Plan.
