Christmas Kettle Campaign

Crunch time for Sally Ann’s Kettle Campaign

PRINCE GEORGE — It is the biggest and most important fundraiser of the year for the Salvation Army. The Kettle Campaign coincides with the lead up to Christmas but, as it has been well-documented, donations have been down across the country. A worrisome reality as this fundraiser supports all of the programs the Salvation Army provides in the year ahead.

Unsurprisingly, the big one is the food bank. Over one thousand registered households use the food bank in Prince George. It is cash that is needed since they are doing fine with in-kind donations like food.

With it being so close to the end of the campaign, there have been internal discussions about how to handle any shortcomings. Major Neil Wilkinson said there is no panic yet, however, and that hope persists.

The Kettle campaign runs until 3pm, December 24.
