33 rail cars derail in Kitwanga

KITWANGA, B.C. — The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) is deploying a team of investigators to a train derailment in northwest B.C.

Thirty-three rail cars carrying wood pellets derailed at around 6 this morning at Mile 70 in Kitwanga.

The TSB says the Canadian National Railway freight train was travelling 35 miles per hour at the time of the derailment.

There were no injuries and investigators are expected to arrive on scene by tomorrow morning.
