PRINCE GEORGE — The provincial government is encouraging wildlife professionals, outdoor enthusiasts and others to participate in an online survey to help assess the effect of winter ticks on BC’s moose population.
The BC Wildlife Health Program is looking for reports about moose with hair loss as they try to determine the overall prevalence and distribution of winter ticks.
Winter tick infestations cause weight loss and leave moose in poor physical condition causing hair loss. In extreme cases it can even lead to death.
The survey runs until the end of April and can be accessed by clicking here.
