The Prince George Spruce Kings bolstered their back end ahead of the CJHL Trade deadline Friday morning as the club has acquired 20-year-old defenceman Jarin Sutton from the Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for Future Considerations.

Sutton, from Prince George B.C, is currently in his 3rd and final season of Junior hockey.

He was acquired by the Grande Prairie Storm last season ahead of the January 10 trade deadline. In 57 games split between two seasons with the Storm, Sutton accumulated 8 goals and 24 assists from the back end.

Prior to Junior, Sutton played his midget hockey with the Cariboo Cougars.

In a press release sent out by the team, General Manager Mike Hawes stated “It’s always nice to add another local player to our lineup. Jarin is a great young man who plays the game hard and will provide some size, experience and physical play to our backend. He’s excited to be coming home and we’re excited to have him”

Sutton is expected to make his Spruce Kings debut sometime this weekend when the Kings play host to the Surrey Eagles both Friday and Saturday at the RMCA.

Puck drop for both games is at 7:00 p.m.

The Spruce Kings have also acquired 19-year-old forward Jackson Zloty from the Calgary Canucks of the AJHL for Future Considerations.

“Jackson is a good skating skilled forward who adds another good veteran piece to our lineup. Depth and experience are always important especially as we head down the backstretch of the season,” stated Hawes in the press release.
