Snow clearing gets underway
PRINCE GEORGE – The snow started coming down this morning and Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning. Snow and ice control crews are working to clear priority routes as a significant snow system moves through the region. Crews will be clearing priority one and priority two routes during both day and night shifts and utilizing all available staff and equipment to bring City roads to a reasonable condition as soon as possible.
work will start with Priority One routes, which are the main arterial routes, around the hospital, downtown streets, priority hills and civic facilities. Priority Two routes are bus routes, commercial streets and industrial roads. Residential streets are Priority Three routes.
Council recently changed its snow clearing policy to allow for heavy fall declaration should accumulations hit 20 centres in 24 hours. It doesn’t look like we will hit that amount.
But the City is also asking residents now to park on city streets and remind motorists that they can be ticketed.
