PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP are making progress in their investigation of an attempted murder this week.

On Tuesday night, police responded to a 911 report of multiple shots fired on Wiggins Place, off Moss Avenue. Multiple spent bullet casings were found on the road, but no victims.

Witnesses say they saw two dark vehicles fleeing the area following the shooting. Some 15 minutes later, RCMP was notified that a 28-year-old Prince George man was at the hospital with a single gunshot wound. The wound is not believed to be life-threatening.

At about the same time, police received a report of a vehicle fire on Moyie Street, just a few blocks from the scene of the shooting. Investigators believe that the vehicle was deliberately set on fire and is connected to the shooting.

It’s believed this incident was targeted and directly associated with the drug trade.

Yesterday morning (Jan.15), police say they were canvassing the neighbourhood when a member of the public told them that they had found a handgun in a snow bank on Moss Avenue. The gun was seized as evidence.

A short time later, police received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Upland Street. Upon examination, it was an SUV with broken windows and damage that appeared to be from several bullet holes. The vehicle was seized as part of the investigation.

Police continue to seek the public’s assistance in this investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477.
