PRINCE GEORGE–A Prince George man is facing charges in relation to two thefts over the weekend.

On the morning of Saturday, January 18th, 2020 the Prince George RCMP received a report of an armed robbery at a jewellery store on the 1600 block of 15th Ave. A lone male suspect is said to have entered the store and produce what appeared to be a handgun, the suspect fled the store on foot and with a small amount of jewellery.

RCMP, including a Police Dog Services team, responded and began to search for the suspect. Officers managed to track the suspect to a known residence on 17th Ave., however, the suspect was not home when police arrived.

Later that afternoon, at around 1:30 PM police received another report, this time of a theft suspect being held down by members of the public near Hwy. 16 and Range Road. When police arrived at the scene they discovered a male suspect in possession of several clothing items that were confirmed to have been stolen from a local retail store on Walls Ave.

The male was arrested without further incident. Through further investigation, police believe that the suspect for the shoplifting was the same person responsible for the armed robbery earlier in the day.

  • Robbery
  • Using an imitation firearm while committing an indictable offence
  • Disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace (2 counts)
  • Fail to comply with probation (4 counts)
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Carry a concealed weapon

Shaw will appear in court later today, Jan.20th, 2020.
