Premier Horgan meets with Mayors
PRINCE GEORGE – It was a chance for the Mayors of Prince George, Mackenzie, Fort St. James, Vanderhoof and Quesnel to sit down with Premier John Horgan for four hours to talk about a couple of issues: Forestry and social issues, such as housing and the opioid crisis.
“When we look at the electoral map, these areas are represented by opposition members. In no way do I want to diminish the hard work of those members of the Legislature, but quite frankly, we don’t hear from them about the positive initiatives that are happening in the communities,” explains Premier Horgan. “We don’t hear from them about how we can work constructively to realize change.”
He says he is working with communities to finding ways of addressing some challenges in the forest industry.
“Minister [Doug] Donaldson and Parliamentary Secretary [Ravi] Kahlon have been cross-crossing the Interior, talking to distressed forest workers, communities. How do we go forward?
