River Ice restricts flow on Nechako

PRINCE GEORGE – The dramatic swing in temperatures over the past week is the suspected cause of an ice jam on the Nechako River.

Large sheets of ice can be seen lodged up against the Foothills bridge pilings, restricting the flow of upstream ice.

One of the city’s newest parks is feeling the effects of the jamming ice. Some areas of Nechako Riverside park located near the foothills bridge is at risk of becoming damaged by the ice and flooding water.

Piles of river ice can also be seen near parts of the riverside walking trail at Cottonwood Island Park.
