QUESNEL– Update: One person suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash this morning about 45 kilometres south of Quesnel on Highway 97.

BC RCMP Cpl. Mike Halskov says at 10:25 a.m. Quesnel RCMP and emergency services were called to the scene of the head-on crash between a semi-trailer and a pickup truck.

RCMP say that a northbound transport truck lost control on the slippery roads, causing the trailer to jack-knife into the southbound lanes where it collided with a southbound pick-up truck with a lone driver.

The driver of the pick-up truck was air-lifted to hospital. The driver of the transport truck was issued a Violation Ticket for speed relative conditions which carries a fine of $167 and three points.

BC RCMP would like to remind the public to slow down considerably when road and weather conditions are poor.

Halskov says the highway is now open to single-lane alternating traffic.
