Traffic Study coming

PRINCE GEORGE – While the budget has yet to be finalized, Administration will be getting started on a new analysis of traffic hot spots in the city. That will look at where things like traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.

The matter was brought up during the budget meeting when Councillor Terri McConnachie broached her concerns over the lack of amenities along that four-kilometre stretch of road.

“It’s incredibly busy. Look at all the different neighbourhoods. And there is a lot of traffic,” she explains. “I brought that one out of the gate because that was brought up at a Talktober event a few years ago. I’ve heard from more and more people.”

She also pointed out that two projects are in the capital budget which would involve turn lanes at University Heights Drive and Tyner Boulevard. That project is set for 2023. A second project is a traffic signal at that location, but not until 2024. But McConnachie is the first to admit that Tyner Boulevard is not the only hot spot in the city.
