VERNON — A trying season continues for the Prince George Spruce Kings ending January with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Vernon Vipers.
Despite being outshot each period, the Kings actually got the jump on the scoresheet striking first. Prince George native Corey Cunningham continued his strong season with his 21st of the year to give PG the 1-0 lead.
A resilient Vipers squad would not be denied, however, tying the game midway through the third. Then with just 17 seconds left, Connor Sleeth put Vernon out in front with the game-winner.
Prince George falls to 16-28-2-3. Next up for the Kings is a trip West Kelowna. The game gets underway Saturday at 6pm.
