PRICE GEORGE – The wastewater treatment facility on Landsdowne Road will be getting some attention over the next couple of years. The facility was originally built in 1972 but has seen additions over the years, ending in 2000.

“Aging infrastructure, where you’re having to go in and do those bigger capital projects,” explains Gina Late-Liston, Director of Public Works. “And so that’s what’s on the budgets for the next couple of years We have four million dollars in the budget. We have a plan for how we’re going to get that project done.”

She recently told Council that the facility is not close to capacity, having been designed to handle a population of 100,000 people.

There were also questions around how to tackle the unpleasant smell that can waft up into College Heights when the City moves the biosolids on-site. Layte-Liston says the City is working on an odour-suppression plan and is communicating with the neighbourhood before those biosolids are moved.
