PRINCE GEORGE — Heading into this weekend the UNBC Men’s Timberwolves basketball team had a little bit of life in the playoff hunt. After Friday, however, that light faded.

The TWolves cruised to an 89-72 victory over MacEwan in a must-win game as they needed to sweep this weekend’s set against the Griffins while also needing Brandon University to lose both their matches. At the same time of UNBC’s victory, Brandon defeated Manitoba to clinch the final playoff position.

Five players for UNBC put up double-digit points in the complete team effort. Tyrell Laing led the way with 21.

UNBC closes out its season Saturday night against the Griffins at the Northern Sport Centre. Tip-off comes at 7pm.
