Man dead after weekend stabbing

SMITHERS–A man is dead after reports of a stabbing over the weekend at a rural residence.

On Feb.8, at around 12:30 a.m., Smithers RCMP were called to assist the BC Ambulance Services at a rural residence for a report of a stabbing.

When frontline members arrived they located a 22-year-old Smithers man suffering from severe stab wounds. He was transported to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Police have taken a 24-year-old male into custody after further investigations showed that an argument occurred between the victim and the 24-year-old.
