Avalanche danger forecast on the rise

PRINCE GEORGE – Where the terrain is steep, covered in deep snow and temperatures fluctuate drastically, there is a higher risk of an avalanche to occur.

According to Avalanche Canada, some areas in our region have many of those factors and have the potential to create an avalanche that is dangerous to backcountry enthusiasts.

It’s been a deadly avalanche season so far in the province. According to Avalanche Canada, four people have been killed by avalanches since the beginning of the winter season.

The rapid changes in temperatures in the region has put Prince George Search and Rescue on alert.
