$25,000 granted to local organizations to help advance gender equality

PRINCE GEORGE–$25,000 have been granted to several local organizations in an attempt to advance gender equality in Canada.

The Prince George Community Foundation is participating in the Pilot Fund for Gender Equality in Canada, a collaboration between Community Foundations of Canada and the Equality Fund which is supported by the Government of Canada.

Funds have been granted to Big Brothers Big Sisters – The strong project; Crisis Prevention, Intervention Information Centre for Northern BC –Suicide Prevention Workshops for Genders at Risk; and Two Rivers Gallery – MakerLab Youth Immersion.

“This funding will be used to support our Strong Program. Strong is a program for girls 11-13 that is designed to help them build skills and self-confidence in a peer support setting.”– Tim Bennett, Executive Director, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Northern BC
