Vanderhoof – Students at Sinkut View Elementary School in Vanderhoof have been very busy of late. As part of preparations to register for the coolest School contest, they have spent time learning about the culture and heritage of the region they live in.
The had visits from hereditary chiefs, made jams and headed out to a wood lot to gather sticks to make walking canes. All of that was used as gifts to be presented at a potlatch yesterday.
Now the Grades five and six students will produce a video about everything they learned in the experience to enter into the contest.
If they win, the students will get a week in Southern Alberta to visit Kootenay Glacier Park. To vote for Sinkut View’s video, check out Parks Canada’s website.
