Yekooche First Nation to vote for new Chief after Joseph “illegally removed from office”

PRINCE GEORGE — Serious allegations being made from the Yekooche First Nation. Mathew Joseph said he was illegally removed from office due to false allegations made by the Band’s Finance Manager and two members of council.

Two weeks ago, Mathew Joseph of the Yekooche First Nation said he was informed he was subject to a recall and no longer Chief. Joseph has since not been able to access his office and says nobody is running the Band’s operations.

According to Joseph, allegations have been brought forward around misuse of the Band’s Visa, which is why he’s been recalled. He claimed there is no truth to those allegations.

Friday morning, CKPG attempted to get in touch with anyone with the Finance Office in Prince George. Although there were people in the office, our calls for comment were ignored.
