Code of Conduct coming for Trustees
NORTHERN BC – There are 60 school districts in BC and they all have one thing in common. They are not beholden to a provincial code of conduct.
But the BC School Trustees Association plans to bring that omission to an end. It has struck an ad hoc committee to draft such a code.
One of the committee members, and the only one from the North, is the Chair of the Board for School District 91, Nadine Frenkel.
“It’s the roles and responsibilities of trustees. What are our roles, what are the responsibilities and what are the expectations of being a trustee? And also being able to understand that you do have a voice and that you are able to speak out if you need to, but also to understand that if a Board makes a decision, it’s a corporate decision.”
