PRINCE GEORGE — Affordable housing has been on the mind of the provincial government ever since John Horgan assumed office in 2017. This week, a pricey promise to address that need was announced in the budget.

That promise, one of the largest promises made in this years budget, $7 billion over 10 years to deliver 114,000 homes. Overall, government is delivering more than 4-billion dollars over three years to help bring affordable housing within reach for people of all ages and income levels.

For Prince George specifically, the affordable housing outlook seems better than in recent times. But while housing is affordable for many, it is not affordable for some. That is where new developments over the last couple of years come into play, creating more diversity in the market and giving more opportunities for people to find a place to live.

As stated in the budget, the province has seen almost 23,000 new homes completed or get underway in two and a half years.
