Police say there’s no excuse for excessive speeder ‘s actions

PRINCE GEORGE–A 24-year-old Prince George man was slapped with a $483 violation ticket and the pickup he was driving was impounded for seven days.

Mounties were conducting speed enforcement on a 70 kilometre per hour stretch of Highway 97 last Thursday morning, when a laser speed reader recorded the vehicle travelling at 152 kilometres per hour, more than twice the posted speed limit.

Police say this incident could have easily had serious or even fatal consequences and there’s no excuse for the man’s actions.

Further penalties may be imposed by the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles and/or ICBC.
