PRINCE GEORGE–A few northerners are making their TV debut on a national reality TV game show this spring.

Michael Stubley of Prince George and Rianne Swanson of Chetwynd, BC. will appear on season eight of Big Brother Canada. Stubley is 25-years-old and is an infantryman in the Canadian Military. Rianne Swanson is 29-years-old and is an operating room nurse.

Stubley’s mother says she is excited for her son, “he never imagined he would get on. I kept telling him they (are) going to love (you)… if your awesome personality and good sense of humour doesn’t get them to pick (you), (your) looks and body will… I’m his mom I can say it he is hot, “said Lilian Astorino to CKPG.

“It’s going to be so surreal to see him on tv.”–Lilian Astorino, Stubley’s Mother

The series follows a group of contestants, also referred to as “houseguests”, in a custom-built home, under constant video surveillance. The houseguests have no contact with the outside world while in the house, meaning no cell phones, no internet, simply each other. Contestants are voted out of the house each week, with the goal of being the last house guest left by the end of the series.

The last houseguest standing receives a $100,000 grand prize along with other luxuries.

Arisa Cox hosts the show that airs weekly on Global.
