UNBC puts on coding workshop for teenage girls
PRINCE GEORGE – The University of Northern BC hosted Go Code Girl, a free workshop tailored for Grade 7 to 11 girls to cover coding and computer science.
While teaching teenage girls the skills behind computer coding, the event also played a part in breaking the stigma when it comes to women in coding and computer science.
During the four hour event, attendees discovered the digital skills that will drive tomorrow’s communication, most imaginative innovations and most essential societal improvements.
Many of the girls appreciated the time spent with other girls while either being introduced to or further expanding on previous knowledge of coding.
